Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to lead the technical design and implementation of a new embedded IoT Solution that will provide a resilient secure infrastructure, supporting our range of connected digital products for the industrial market.

The Opportunity

The role will involve the development of core IoT components including, secure device management, device to cloud connectivity and telemetry data ingest. The Senior Firmware Engineer will report to the head of the PDP and work with a team of architects and engineers to deliver the end-to-end solution.

Responsibilities:

• Producing up to date documentation (technical integration descriptions, requirements, scoping)
• Engineering the technical solution in collaboration with internal and external 3rd party development teams
• Advising the project team on technical options and recommendations
• Reviewing and signing off documents, firmware and software
• Unit and integration testing to identify and troubleshoot potential problems
• Scoping and evaluating innovative IoT technology

Expected Deliverables:

• Identification, assessment and application of applicable IoT technologies
• Development of core IoT System components
• Implementation of a solution meeting the agreed requirements
• Documentation for the implemented solution

Experience Requirements

Required skills and experience:

• Degree level education or relevant experience, in an engineering or science discipline
• Proven experience in developing connected (IoT) embedded products
• High analytical, conceptual and troubleshooting abilities
• Proven experience identifying, analysing and resolving system problems.
• Excellent verbal and technical documentation skills
• Knowledge of IoT Protocols and standards (i.e. LWM2M, MQTT, BLE, CoAP)
• Experience of developing connected products and systems for industrial markets (or other similar market verticals)

Advantageous skills and experience:

• Experience in cloud-based technologies and platforms (Azure)
• Experience of collaborating with multiple 3rd parties
• Experience of working with Agile processes
• PKI security implementation within IoT Solutions
• Experience with embedded RTOS development using Secure RTOS
• ATEX and intrinsically safe product engineering
• Hardware engineering experience
